A dome at 3m gives a ceiling of 1.5m. A 3m zome stands 3m tall. Full standing height from the smallest footprint.

Warm in winter

The spherical form loses less heat per cubic metre than any rectangular building. Geometry, not expensive insulation.

Panels carried by one or two people. No crane. No truck access required.

Psychologically alive

A zome is, in effect, a three-dimensional mandala — a centred, radial form that cultures across history have used to hold attention and settle the mind. Carl Jung found that when people drew from the depths, they produced this kind of geometry spontaneously. The round room feels different because it is different: it gathers rather than disperses. Some of that is measurable. Some of it is not. Both are real.

Water, power and sanitation you control can’t be priced against you or switched off. They arrive with the first zome.

Reduce food dependency gradually.

Full self-sufficiency from day one is how homesteads burn out. Grow what you can tend well. Add a bed each year.

Reduce income dependency last.

Once housing, utilities and the network are in place, the income you need falls sharply. Work becomes a choice — then you reduce it.
